The next phase of Creators for Climate 🌍

A quick update on where Creators for Climate is heading, and how you can help shape what comes next.

Hey all, it’s been a while with the summer break! Also a big welcome to the new faces from the Q2 LinkedIn sprint 🙋🏻‍♂️

⚙️ Systems first

I’ll be honest... at the start of 2025 everything felt overwhelming. There were so many moving parts to the project: recording the podcast, working on the YouTube channel, developing the toolkit, preparing resources, writing social media posts and newsletters, getting revenue sources aligned… all of it felt like too much was happening at once.

So for 2025 I decided to focus on one thing: systems.
Systems that are helping us push this project into the next phase. The goal was to build structures that make consistency possible without burning out.

That work has already paid off. You’ve probably noticed more consistent newsletters and LinkedIn updates this year.

That's one of these content systems at work:
Our ✨ Trust flywheel

We're slowly expanding those systems, with some tweaks, to other areas like the YouTube channel (and the academy 🤫).

For the first time, since the start in 2020 as just an Instagram account, the original roadmap is finally turning into reality 🙋🏻‍♂️

🧑‍🏫 Coaching beta sprint

Of course, once you've build a system, you start to see how you can apply it everywhere…

In our case, we want to help others in this climate/science space create their own content systems.

So this summer I kicked off a coaching sprint with a small group of beta testers. A mix of scientists and creators, from early stage to more experienced. People who are hard at work on their brand and content, but for some reason are stuck.

The goal of the sprint:
help you get unstuck in 4 sessions.

One learning from the these sessions: most struggles we go through as creators are twofold.

  1. The creator side, where we are blocked by our own mindset, confidence or focus.
  2. Our content fit, where there is a disconnect between our content and what our audience actually cares about.

When both these sides "click", that’s when things start to flow.

I’ll keep you up to date when we launch these coaching calls to a wider group. If you’re interested you can sign up here on the waitlist and get some more info! 🙋🏻‍♂️

But there’s more to these coaching sessions, though 👇

📓 New resources on the way

Every session feeds into the development of resources we can share with the whole community.

Right now, I’m working on a:

  • Audience audit → a framework to help you define who your audience really is and what they want. Especially challenging in the fields of science and climate change.
  • Curiosity builder → tools for framing your content so it hooks your audience (whether on YouTube or LinkedIn).

In other words: coaching = resource R&D.
That’s how we’ll build the toolkit 💪

🎙️ The podcast needs guests

We’ve recorded extra episodes to finish our pilot series: “The role we play in the climate movement”.

Next up: a new phase where we’ll sit down with more ✨creators✨ and learn from their work and process.
(it’s Creators for Climate after all… 🙄)

And here’s where you can help us: Leave your thoughts on who you think we should invite on the podcast! We are looking for creators who are making content about:

  • Anything climate (tech, solutions,…)
  • Sustainability
  • Ecological impacts or solutions
  • Conservation
  • Environment
  • Green economy
  • ….

Your suggestions will help shape the conversations we have this season! Which also brings us to the topic of Youtube... 👇

🌱 Creators for … Science?

Climate creators and scientists are two sides of the same coin. To be that bridge in between, that’s why Creators For Climate was created.

But the thing that finally clicked this year: talking to each of these groups? Thaaaaat doesn’t happen the same way… (duh).

So, here’s the plan going forward. We’re slowly splitting our two audiences up, to provide more focussed content. The goal here is that everyone feels heard and in the right place. We’ll be bringing them together when it’s needed!

  • Creators for Climate → the outreach hub
Here we get to share stories of creators, NGOs, and the cultural side of climate action.
  • Creators for Science → the Academy
The place where we can nerd out about science communication, especially on social media.

We’ve just quietly launched the Creators for Science YouTube channel (it's still very empty), with the first long form video on its way soon.

This channel will focus purely on communicating science and creating content. If you’ve ever felt stuck turning your research or climate story into content, give us a pre-sub 🙋🏻‍♂️

And here’s where I’d love your input:

👉 What are you struggling with in your science communication?

You can leave your thoughts in this form here. The more you share, the better the content will get for all of us 🙌

💬 A final note

This update is a little different from our usual deep dives… but I wanted to give you a window into the foundations we’ve been building.

Truth is, there’s a lot to juggle, and it is kind of messy at times. But the progress is happening because of these systems and because of this community.

So here’s my ask:
Share your feedback where it makes sense for you.

This project was never meant to be built by me alone.
It’s meant to be built with you 🤗

Thanks for being here,
Tom 🙋🏻‍♂️

This entry is built on one core idea: short form video is here to stay, so how do we make it work for climate content? Earlier this month, I co-hosted a session at The Good Wave (a network for Belgian climate action). We explored what it takes to make vertical videos that feel native to TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts (without losing your sanity). In this piece, I want to share a few takeaways for climate creators and organizations who are starting to take short form video more...

Here's what we learned in the first month of our coaching sessions. The students? A handful of solo creators and science communicators working on climate and science content. They all struggled with the same pain point. A disconnect between their content and their audience. Over a sprint of 4 sessions we looked at how the puzzle pieces fit together. That’s the topic of this entry. When does it all come together? How do you achieve “content fit”? This entry can be useful for other creators,...
